Prof. Dr. Ong Wee Jun

Xiamen University, Malaysia

Prof. Dr. Ong received his B.Eng. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Monash University. He is a Professor and Assistant Dean at School of Energy and Chemical Engineering (SECE), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). Starting from 2021, he serves as the Director of Centre of Excellence for NaNo Energy & Catalysis Technology (CONNECT). Previously, he was a scientist at Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore. In 2019, he was a Visiting Scientist at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany and a Visiting Professor at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA. His research interests include nanomaterials for photo(electro)catalytic and electrochemical H2O splitting, CO2 reduction, H2O2 synthesis, N2 fixation, plastic reforming, and organic synthesis as well as microwave plasma methane cracking for graphene and hydrogen production. 

From 2019 to 2023, he was listed as a Global Highly Cited Researcher (Top 1%) by Clarivate Analytics in the Cross-Field category as well as World’s Top 2% Scientist by Stanford University. To date, his citations are >20,500 with an H-index of 64. Currently, he serves as Chief Editor of Frontiers in Nanotechnology, Associate Editor of Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, Guest Editor and Board Member of Materials Horizons, Small, Chinese Journal of Catalysis, Journal of Energy Chemistry, SmartMat, Nano Research and Carbon Energy.
